ECOPOND project has started!
On September 4th, 2020, a contract was signed for the implementation and funding of the research project, which was awarded funding under the call titled 'GRIEG-1'. The project is entitled: ‘The ecology of ponds in the context of human activity and geography – environmental DNA and beyond'.
The agreement was concluded on the basis of the decision of the Director of the National Science Centre of April 27th, 2020, between the National Science Centre and the partnership formed by the Institute of Nature Conservation of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Project Promoter) and the University of Lodz, Jagiellonian University, Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) and Norwegian Veterinary Institute (NVI). The project will take 36 months to complete and the amount of funding was 6 387 134,00 PLN. The ECOPOND 2019/34/H/NZ8/00683 project is financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism for 2014-2021 (Norwegian Funds).
We hope that these next three years of work within the project will bring us many answers to questions regarding the impact of urbanization and evolution of organisms on biodiversity of pond ecosystems.
